We hope you will mark your calendar for IROCF’s 60th Anniversary Kewpiesta, date to be announced, at the Branson Towers Hotel in Branson, MO. The theme will be Kewpie Comics.

We are saddened to share that long-time member Susan Wilson passed on March 31. Susan was the last remaining original member of IROCF. Her services will be April 17 in St. Louis.

Lily Gould from the Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences American Studies, Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race has completed her thesis that is now available online. It is titled Innocent Icons: Character, Form, and the Cultural Crusade of Rose O’Neill’s Kewpies, 1909 – 1918. Check it out!

Let’s help the Hickman High School Kewpies. It’s a two-way competition between the Hickman High Kewpies and the Center Point-Urbana Stormin’ Pointers (Iowa) in the first round of the 2026 Nation High School Best Mascot competition. Right now the Pointers are No. 4-seeded and the Kewpies No. 13 so they need our help to move onto the second round. Vote here. (The link is at the bottom of the page)

There is a fun article on Kewpee Inc. the famous hamburger stand founded in 1928, in the Lima News (Ohio). Did you know because parking was so limited that in the 1940s the restaurant had a turntable installed in the parking lot to spin cars around to exit the lot? It appears that if you access the page more than once you will receive a message saying you need to subscribe. That does not happen the first time.

We often find references to Rose O’Neill in unique locations. In June 2022 “OFF THE GRID”, Greenwich Village Society for Historical Preservation (New York City), featured Rose and her suffrage contributions. Rose O’Neill: Artist, Suffragist, & Queen of the Kewpies as the featured Village Preservation Blog. 

The Rochester Institute of Technology (Rochester, NY) has a Women’s Suffrage Posters: A Virtual Exhibition available. One of the featured posters is Rose O’Neill’s “Give Mother the Vote: We Need It”.
